THE VISION, PRINCIPLES AND GOALS OF PMPI

Vision

Philippine Misereor Partnership is a partnership of equals with shared vision and with focus on the poor at the center of the partnership.

Principles

The Partnership adheres to the following principles:

1. The poor as the primary agents of development

At the core of the PMP vision are the poor and the oppressed people who can act on their own behalf, who increase and develop their own potentials and who removet he obstacles and hindrances to their living full human lives.

2. Transparency

The Partnership shall at all times encourage transparency among its members. Differences ind evelopment approaches and interests among the various partners in the Partnership require a high degree of transparency in procedures of dialoge and consensus decision making.

3. Subsidiarity

In believing in the transforming power of the poor, the partnership holds that the people of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order, depriving the latter of its functions, but rather should support it in case of need and help to coordinate its activity with the activities of the rest of society, always wiht a view to the common good.

4. Openness

One of the strategies of the partnership in development work is dialogue. To effect a successful dialogue within the membership of the partnership and between the partnership and other institutions, openness plays a crucial role, without which dialogue of any kind would be futile.

5. Mutual Trust

The partnership encourages harmony among its partner organizations by developing mutual trust with each other based on the firm conviction that every creature is good at heart.

6. Balance and Symmetry

The partnership strives at all times and in all circumstances to promote equality among its partners. This equality is aimed at a symmetry among equals in development work, particularly equals with the poor and marginalized.

7. Objectivity

The partnership gives value to the viewpoint of people other than its members towards its further development and improvement in attaining its vision, mission and goals.
